Earth’s finite resources are being stretched to the limit by rapid population growth, air, water and soil pollution, and much more. In the face of our complex global problems, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and powerless, and to find ourselves asking, “What difference can one person make?” The answer is that one person can make all the difference in the world: Each of us has the power through our daily decisions and lifestyle choices to make our homes, our communities and our places of employment more environmentally friendly. This month’s Top Story demonstrates how one decision by one person made a huge impact in her place of employment. Once she was aware of potential harmful chemicals (PVCs) in children’s furniture used in hospitals Sarah O’Keeffe took action. She researched available options for the necessary furniture investment. The hospital accepted Sarah’s recommendation and purchased only furniture that was completely free of PVC compounds.  You just never know…..
