As Canadians we expect to have our environment protected. However, in a report from Julie Gelfand, Canada’s Commissioner of the Environment, we are being short-changed. She said that in many key areas it was not clear how the government intends to address the significant environmental challenges that future growth and development will likely bring about. The report used government data, or lack thereof, to assess the government’s success or failure to implement its own regulations and policies. Everywhere, people are demanding change! Did you know that more than 300,000 attended the People’s Climate March in New York in September? Countless Canadians are doing their part to protect the air, water, soil and biological diversity that keep us alive and healthy. Our top article this month describes how Clean Technology is now Canada’s fastest growing industry. But we need our politicians to step up too.
